Abstract
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of bearing branch length on the fruit removal force (FRF) of persimmon (Diospyros kaki cv. Fuyu). In FRF measurement of detaching fruits from the branch, first separation zone was mostly between the fruit stalk and the branch. When a fruit born with short branch, the fruit was split from the branch forward base. The correlation coefficients among the FRF from calyx and branch, fruit weight, branch length and diameter, fruit stalk length and diameter were anaylsed. The FRF from calyx has no correlation with any other variables, and was in the range of 11-12 §¸. The regression equation of the FRF from branch (y-axis) versus the branch length (x-axis) was y=3.093+0.134x. The FRF from branch gradually decreased at room temperature, but the FRF from calyx did not decrease. However, the FRF from calyx of damaged fruit rapidly decreased.
